The internet has gone into a tizzy after the ‘Friends’ cast officially confirmed that a reunion is on the cards.
The news hit social media when cast members simultaneously posted the same flashback picture with the caption “It’s happening” on their Instagram pages on Friday, sending fans of the cult television show into hyperventilation mode.
If reports are to be believed, the cult comedy’s starcast will return to the original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros studio for an untitled unscripted special for HBO Max.
The announcement has elicited all kinds of reactions from the show's substantial fanbase, with many hailing the comeback of the legendary friends to the television screens after more than 25 long years. "*in chandler's tone* Could I be more happy?", wrote one user, in a nod to actor Matthew Perry's trademark quips.
However, where there is positivity, negativity is sure to dwell as well. "I would love to see them together but why unscripted!! why not a sequel or reboot?? I'm not excited about another talk show. It just Warner Bros tactic to increase their subscriber", wrote a social media user, casting doubts over Warner Bros' decision to bring the cast together for one last hoorah.
It may be mentioned here that the evergreen show FRIENDS follows the lives of six reckless adults living in Manhattan, as they indulge in adventures which make their lives both troublesome and happening.
The show began airing on 22 September 1994, and its last episode was aired on 6 May 2004. The show is regarded by many as one of the most popular television shows in the sitcom genre.
