LOS ANGELES: American actor Matthew Perry, known for his turn as Chandler in the rating juggernaut F.R.I.E.N.D.S recently revealed on his Twitter handle that the highly-anticipated reunion special the show will be debuting in March 2021 on HBO Max.
The long-delayed reunion is still in development, but the date of the same has been confirmed by our very own Chandler. The star revealed that the cast and crew of the show will begin filming in March next year.
The actor also expressed his happiness on beginning the year on a good note. "Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!" Perry tweeted.
Previously, Marta Kauffman, the show's co-creator, told Entertainment Tonight that she wanted to wait to tape the special because she wanted a live audience to be able to attend.
In August, She said, "We all want it to happen. We just have to wait until it is safe. This is a show that is not scripted, but this is the way the show works -- we are going to need a live audience. Even if we socially distance that live audience, it really is a huge part of what 'Friends' is... We cannot do it without them," "Everyone is all in and we are just waiting for that time when it feels connected to bring in a live audience."
The special was announced back in February with all the cast set to executive produce.
A press release obtained by Fox News at the time read, "Series stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will return to the iconic comedy's original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank for a celebration of the beloved show. The unscripted cast reunion special, along with all 236 episodes of the Emmy-winning series, will be available to subscribers at the launch of HBO Max."
It may be mentioned here that the evergreen show F.R.I.E.N.D.S follows the lives of six reckless adults living in Manhattan, as they indulge in adventures which make their lives both troublesome and happening.
The show began airing on 22 September 1994, and its last episode was aired on 6 May 2004. The show is regarded by many as one of the most popular television shows in the sitcom genre.
