Since 90's, an alternative rock band from Nagaland, has officially exploded onto the rich and vibrant music scene of the region after being adjudged the winners of the battle of the bands at the Dimapur Youth Festival, 2019.
Speaking to Inside Northeast, guitarist Imkong reveals that the quintet came into existence in 2017 and now comprises Apecha on the Vocals, Imli on the Drums, Meren on Bass, Theja on Guitar and Imkong on Guitar.

Talking about winning the 'battle of the band' at the Youth fest and on walking away with a cool cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, ImKong says that the focus will be on recording new material. "I think the money will help us a great deal in our endeavors -- we can use it to upgrade our equipment, but the focus will be mostly on recording new material. Moreover, we have already recorded our EP, which is being mixed and will be released later this year."
Revealing that the band has "big dreams", Imkong reveals that the band hopes of making the Weekender lineup someday. "However, now, the focus is on securing as many gigs as possible, to play our material live in front of audiences", the six-stringer said.

Reflecting back on how the band came together as a unit, Imkong says, "All of us are from Dimapur and what is great about out band is that we are all great friends, which is why we have an enviable musical connection." Imsong further reveals that the band played a few shows together, and formed the band after they clicked together.

Citing rock legends 'Foo Fighters' as a major influence, Imkong says that that the band is looking experiment more with its music in the coming times to carve out a unique identity for itself.
Lastly, Imsong revels why the band is so-named. "Actually, all the members of the were born during the 1990s, thus the name", Imkong says with a snigger.
