MISING FEATURE FILM LI:LEN SCREENED AT JYOTI CHITRABAN

Li:Len  A Ray of Hope is a mising film directed by Narayan Seal is being screened today at Jyoti Chitraban in Guwahati. The Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film And Television Institute (DBHRGFTI)  took the initiative and organised the Film Screening Programme on Enhanced Interaction with Industry under the scheme Academic Support for the Weak, Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe students supported by North Eastern Quality Improvement Programme (NEQIP) and All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE).

The film Li:Len shows the lifestyle of the riverine tribe in Assam. Flood and Illiteracy is a major factor for the under-development of this community although they are very rich in culture, customs and traditions. But they are not free from superstitions. Ya:pang, is a neurological disorder in human body, the community people has a ill concept in which they do injustice to the victims. They openly boycott such families.

In the story of this film Li:Len shows how a daughter struggles when she finds out her father to be a victim of Ya:pang. She goes through a trauma for several years. She fell in love with Adi, the son of village headman but she cannot express it publicly because she is a Ya:pang girl. But Adi is one and only who supports her and her family. The film sets a hope in the end when a research scholar Nicholas comes to their village and finds out the dark truth but could change the mindset of the community people and left the village with a ray of hope that one day God will come to unlock the dark room of those people’s mind.
