Megadeth frontman and heavy metal legend Dave Mustaine has revealed that he is suffering from throat cancer. The 'Symphony of Destruction' singer made this announcement through social media.
Taking to Facebook, the music legend wrote: "I’ve been diagnosed with throat cancer. It’s clearly something to be respected and faced head on - but I’ve faced obstacles before. I’m working closely with my doctors, and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90% success rate. Treatment has already begun. Unfortunately, this requires that we cancel most shows this year. The 2019 Megacruise will happen, and the band will be a part of it in some form. All up to date information will be at megadeth.com as we get it. Megadeth will be back on the road ASAP."
In the post, Mustaine also revealed that the band has been working on a follow-up to their highly-acclaimed grammy winning album 'Dystopia', which was released in 2016.
Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. Guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson formed the band in 1983 shortly after Mustaine's dismissal from Metallica. Along with Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer, Megadeth is one of the "big four" of American thrash metal, responsible for its development and popularization.
