The highly-anticipated Assamese film 'Ratnakar' has set the cash registers ringing on its opening day! As per initial reports, the film has earned a record-breaking Rs 42 lakh on its opening day to beat the first-day collection of Zubeen Garg-starrer 'Kanchenjangha', which is currently the highest-grossing Assamese film.

If the bumper opening day collection is any indication, the Jatin Bora-starrer is all set to set the box-office on fire, and challenge 'Kanchanjangha' for the box-office crown in Assam.

The action-blockbuster has been been released across 59 theaters in Assam, and 11 theaters in other states. The film has been witnessing heavy footfalls across the State, and most of the shows have been declared 'housefull'.

In a recent interview with Inside Northeast, one of the leading ladies, Barsha Rani Bixoya had informed that tickets have been sold out for a week.

In the process, the film has left behind the Priyanka Chopra-Farhan Akhtar starrer 'The Sky is Pink', which released on the same day. 'The Sky is Pink' has not only floundered in Assam, but was met with lukewarm response all over the country as Priyanka's return to Bollywood earned a mere Rs 2.5 crore on opening day.
