The rumors have turned out to be true! British actor Robert Pattinson, who rose to prominence after playing the role of Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' franchise has finally been confirmed to play the DC Comics superhero Batman.
After days of speculations over who the next Batman would be, the 'vampire heartthrob' Pattinson has been confirmed for the role by executives of Warner Bros, which owns the franchise. Pattinson, who is 33 years old, becomes the youngest to play the role of the caped crusader. The DC Universe film has set a tentative release date of 25 June, 2021.
According to Variety, Pattinson has closed the deal with Warner Bros for taking on the role in the upcoming Matt Reeves-directed affair, titled 'The Batman', which will be a new take on the caped crusader.
After gaining fame with the 'Twilight' franchise, Pattinson has starred in more serious fare with films such as 'Cosmopolis', 'Good Time' and most recently 'High Life'. Pattinson has also been added to the cast of Christopher Nolan's next, 'Tenet', which will also star John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, and Bollywood star Dimple Kapadia.
Pattinson has a full plate in 2019 as well as he will seen in the films 'The Lighthouse', 'The King' (for Netflix) and 'Waiting for the Barbarians'.
