Sonam Sherpa, the founding member and lead guitarist of renowned band Parikrama died earlier today in Darjeeling's Kurseong. The ace guitarist suffered due to a massive heart attack, reports said. He was 48.
Sherpa, regarded as one of the foremost guitar players in the country, along with organ player Subir Malik, formed the band Parikrama June 17, 1991. The renowned guitarist also owned and ran the Parikrama School of Music situated in Hauz Khas, New Delhi.

Sonam Sherpa was known for giving music to the band's many hits including But It Rained, Tears of the Wizard and Am I Dreaming.
The international music mag 'Rolling Stone' also featured the musician as one of the 'Top 10 Guitarist of India.
Meanwhile, ace music composer Vishal Dadlani has condoled the death of the virtuoso musician. "Music composer Vishal Dadlani expressed his condolences on Sherpa’s death on social media. “You were always the kindest heart. I wish we’d spent more time together, man. I wish we’d played more gigs together. I wish I’d hung out with you more while there was still time. I wish I’d gotten to know your wife and kid so I could tell them today, what a great guy you were. Cant believe you’re gone, #SonamSherpa . I cant even begin to imagine what @parikramaindia @subirmalik666 @nitinmaliklive are feeling right now,”Dadlani wrote.
