Kohima, November 11, 2019:

The Tetseo Sisters, one of Nagaland's most well-renowned musical exports, have proved their versatility once again by covering a track by International K-Pop icons, Blackpink.

Two of the sisters, Lulu and Kuvelu, have released a rendition of Blackpink's smash hit 'Whistle' and the video can be viewed on the Tetseo Sister's official YouTube channel. Somewhat astonishingly, the Tetseo Sisters' version has already racked up over 62,000 views in just over 24 hours on YouTube.

The Tetso Sisters' take on the song has drawn praise for its fusion of different styles and the clean, powerful, and crisp vocals. What is most commendable is how the Sisters manage to preserve the energy, and anthemic nature of the song, with a familiar/simple twist.

Commenting on the cover, Lulu Tetseo told Inside Northeast, "My cover of Blackpink's 'Whistle' with Kuvelu Tetseo is my fun take on one of the current K-Pop songs I really enjoy singing and grooving to."

It is worth mentioning here that the Tetseo Sisters' love with K-pop goes back quite a while, and they had earlier covered a song, 'Nobody', by another popular K-Pop group, Wonder Girls. That song too had taken social media by storm and has racked up over 146,000 views on YouTube.

"Whistle" (Korean: 휘파람; RR: Hwiparam) was released together with "Boombayah" as a digital single titled Square One. The lyrics were written by B.I., Teddy Park and Bekuh Boom, while the song was composed by the latter two, with additional assistance from Future Bounce. Musically, "Whistle" straddles between a minimalist hip-hop production and a more guitar-driven pop composition. The song, which was originally released in 2016, has racked up over 433 million hits on YouTube.
