After death of several soldiers & civilians at LoC, Pak accuses India of violating ceasefire agreement

NEW DELHI: India's Chargé d’Affaires has been summoned to register Pakistan’s "strong protest" over what the nation has termed as "ceasefire violations by India" along the Line of Control (LoC). India, on the other hand, has also accused Pakistan of intruding on Indian soil. Army officials yesterday confirmed that as many as 5 soldiers were killed during cross-firing at the border.

"The Indian Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today to register Pakistan’s strong protest over ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation Forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on 13th November 2020, resulting in shahadats (deaths) of four innocent civilians and serious injuries to twelve others," Pakistan's government said in a release.

According to the Pakistani Government, the targeted areas in the most recent ceasefire violations were Neelum Valley (Nekrun, Kel, Sharda, Dudhnial, Shahkot, Jura, Nauseri sectors), Leepa Valley (Danna, Mandal and Kayani sectors), Jhelum Valley (Chham and Pandu sectors), and Bagh Valley (Pirkanthi, Sankh, Haji Pir, Bedori and Kailer sectors).

Indian occupation forces, in utter disregard for all international obligations and human rights and the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding targeted civilian inhabited areas, the Pakistani government said in its statement.

This year, India has committed 2737 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in 25 shahadats and serious injuries to 218 innocent civilians.

Terming India's alleged ceasefire violation as a "senseless act", Pakistan said these are in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding.

"The Indian side was also urged to allow the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions," the Pakistan Government added.

India, at the same time, however, has condemned Pakistan for incursions along the Line of Control (LoC).

n a major flare-up along the Line of Control yesterday, eleven people including five soldiers were killed in ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in several areas in north Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

Four soldiers of the army, a Border Security Force (BSF) sub-inspector were killed in Pakistani firing, the officials said.

Six civilians — including a woman — were also killed in various areas. Pakistani forces used mortars and other weapons.

Indian forces strongly retaliated to the shelling and army sources said there have been multiple casualties on the Pakistani side.

Around 6-7 Pakistan army soldiers, including two SSG (Special Service Group) commandos, have been killed and 10-12 injured, army sources said.

Assam’s Haradhan Rai was among the 5 soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice at the Line of Control (LoC).
