Bangladesh, India likely to ink 7 pacts during PM Sheikh Hasina's  four-day visit

Bangladesh and India are expected to sign seven pacts in areas including water management, railway and science and technology during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi.

Bangladesh and India are expected to sign seven pacts in areas including water management, railway and science and technology during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi beginning Monday. 

Hasina will visit  New Delhi on Monday for the four-day visit at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

The Bangladesh Prime Minister will meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar during her visit.

She will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, PM Hasina will meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar while she is in New Delhi.

During the talks between Hasina and Modi, matters related to border management, combating drug smuggling and human trafficking, investments, enhanced trade relations, power and energy sector cooperation, water sharing of common rivers, water resources management, and security cooperation would likely to get  priority.

Last month on August 25, India and Bangladesh finalised the agreement's text on the interim sharing of river waters. The text of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was finalised at the 38th ministerial-level meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) held in Delhi.

Foreign Minister Momen, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Liberation War Minister A K M Mozammel Haq, and Mashiur AKM Rahman, the Prime Minister's economic affairs advisor, will also be part of Hasina's team.
