The stampede happened when hundreds of worshippers were attending a prayer ceremony in the Church led by Boniface Mwamposa, a popular preacher heading the Arise and Shine Ministry Tanzania. When Mwamposa poured the “blessed oil” on the group, the crowd surged forward to touch it, with the hope of being cured of sickness.
