Police had launched an investigation but failed to solve the missing case. Interestingly, a property surveyor, who was checking out Google Earth, had spotted the car submerged in a retention pond located in Wellington, Florida.

According to reports, the surveyor was a previous resident of the Grand Isles neighbourhood of Wellington. He contacted the current owner, who in turn, confirmed about the submerged car using a drone.

Later, the authorities found skeletal remains of William Earl Moldt.

The housing development where the pond is located was under construction when Moldt's disappeared.
