Kazakhstan Plane Crash: Nine People Killed as Plane with 95 People on Board Crashes

New Delhi, December 27, 2019:

At least nine people were killed when a Bek Air plane with 95 passengers and five crew members on board crashed near Kazakhstan’s Almaty city on Friday morning.

According to Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Committee, the plane was heading for Nur-Sultan, and then it lost altitude during takeoff and broke through a concrete fence before hitting a building.

The committee and Almaty airport said that the emergency services were working at the site to get the survivors out.

It may be mentioned here that Bek Air operates a fleet of Fokker 100 jets, which the carrier was suspending due to a pending investigation.

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took to Twitter to offer his condolences to the victims and their families. He wrote, “Those responsible will face tough punishment in accordance with the law.”
