Burma, August 11, 2019:

The death toll from a landslide that was reported in southern Myanmar on Friday has reached 52.

The rescue teams are still carrying out search operations for missing persons at the base of a mountain in Mottama, at Paung Township in Mon State in Myanmar.

Reportedly, 11 bodies were retrieved from the site of the landslide Sunday morning, which later increased to 52. The landslide buried 25 homes and five vehicles in the area.

There are also reports that more than 100 people living in the area were struck by the disaster. It is estimated that over 40 people are still missing, including tourists and passers-by.
