At a time when diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan are at an all time low, the neighboring nation's Prime Minister Imran Khan has raised quite a few eyebrows with a post on Twitter condemning his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's Government and its alleged discrimination against minorities.
In a post that is clearly meant to rile up the minorities in India, Khan stated that the "Hindu supremacist Modi Govt poses a threat to Pakistan as well as to the minorities in India".
Further drawing parallels with the Hitler-era Nazi regime in Germany, Khan added that "to understand the link between Nazi ideology & the ethnic cleansing & genocide ideology of RSS-BJP Founding Fathers just Google".
In another tweet, Khan added, "Already 4m Indian Muslims face detention camps & cancellation of citizenship. World must take note as this genie is out of the bottle & the doctrine of hate & genocide, with RSS goons on the rampage, will spread unless the international community acts now to stop it."
This series of tweets by Khan seem to be an apparent attempt at igniting communal flames at a time when the relations between the communities already seems to be at an all-time low. Pakistan has often been accused of trying to stir up trouble in Kashmir, have they set their sights on another troubled region in India, the Northeast?
This seems to be a jibe at the ongoing National Register of Citizens (NRC) which is being tabled in Assam to filter out the alleged Bangladeshi encroachers on Assamese soil. Khan poking his nose in matters pertaining to Assam seems like a desperate attempt by the neighboring nation to stir up some trouble ahead of the publication of NRC final draft on August 31, and to create further chaos and disorder.
Khan's tweets also drew the ire of Netizens. One user wrote, "There is a serious doubt about this guy's mental stability. He has a severe attack of anxiety. Can someone take him to the mental hospital? He needs immediate attention before it is too late", while another wrote, "Pakistani goons have no moral right to speak any thing on India. First see what happens in Balochistan PoK & GB and also look in to sufferings of muslims in china and raise the issue !!!"
Khan and Pakistan Government have immediately gone on the offensive ever since the Indian Government revoked Article 370 and 35A giving special rights to residents of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistan Government even suspended bilateral trade ties with India.
Recently, Khan was trending on Twitter after it came to light that a search for the term 'bhikhari' (or beggar) yielded the Pak PM's pictures.
This appears to be ironic as barely a few days back an onion seller from Pakistan had tweeted, “Just 3-4 days are left for Eid and the market looks so dull. We depend on India for vegetables and onion, which is so essential for cooking food on Eid. I am sure, the price of onion will increase further. What does Imran Khan want us to eat? Grass?”
The seller was voicing his concerns after Pakistan had suspended bilateral ties with India in the wake of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A (which granted special rights and privileges of the citizens of J&K).
