Rocket Blast at Afghanistan's US Embassy on 18th Anniversary of 9/11

New Delhi, September 11, 2019:

Minutes into the anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the United States, a rocket exploded at the US Embassy in Afghanistan on Wednesday.

However, the officials have informed that no injuries have been reported declared the compound all-clear about an hour later.

As per reports, this is the first major attack in Kabul since President Donald Trump abruptly called off US-Taliban talks over the weekend.

It is to be mentioned that the September 11 attacks, also referred to as 9/11 saw a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. Additional people died of 9/11-related cancer and respiratory diseases in the months and years following the attacks.

Along with the 110-floor Twin Towers, numerous other buildings at the World Trade Center site were destroyed or badly damaged, including WTC buildings 3 through 7 and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The North Tower, South Tower, the Marriott Hotel (3 WTC), and 7 WTC were destroyed. The U.S. Customs House (6 World Trade Center), 4 World Trade Center, 5 World Trade Center, and both pedestrian bridges connecting buildings were severely damaged. The Deutsche Bank Building on 130 Liberty Street was partially damaged and demolished some years later, starting in 2007. The two buildings of the World Financial Center also suffered damage. The last fires at the World Trade Center site were extinguished on December 20, exactly 100 days after the attacks.
