While countries across the globe are rushing towards creating a COVID-19 vaccine as cases continue to grow alarmingly, Russia stunned the world last month when it claimed that it has become the first country to create a vaccine for the coronavirus disease. And now, one of the country’s top officials has said that the COVID-10 vaccine will be released for civilian use as early as this week.

As per reports, the examination of the vaccine will begin within days prior to this thee vaccine will pass through quality check by the medical watchdog Roszdravnadzor. “Within September 10 and 13, we will be able to obtain permission to release a batch of the vaccine for civilian use. Respectively, from that moment on the population will begin to be vaccinated,” said Dens Logunov, Director for research at Gamaleya Research Institute.

The vaccine will be first given to risk groups such as medics and teachers who are at the forefront of tackling this pandemic. The distributions of the vaccine will also be under the health ministry’s purview, said a report.
