Ukraine Plane Crash: All 170 Passengers aboard Killed in Tehrancrash

New Delhi, January 8, 2020:

All the 170 passengers and crew aboard the Ukrainian aircraft, Boeing 737-800, were killed after it crashed soon after its take-off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini airport in Tehran on Wednesday morning.

The aircraft crashed near Parand, a suburb southwest of Tehran and was en rute to Kyiv. Authorities had earlier informed that the plane was on fire after it crashed and that rescue teams were rushed to the spot. However, Iran’s Red Crescent said there was no chance of finding survivors, and Pir Hossein Kulivand, an Iranian emergency official, informed that all those on board were killed in the plane crash.

A video purportedly of the plane crash was circulated by the ISNA news agency. It showed that the aircraft was burning as it crashed. It may be mentioned here that no significant safety issues have been raised with the aircraft belonging to the Ukraine International Airlines. Reports said that the jet was less than four years old.

Pirhossein Koulivand, head of Iran’s emergency services, told state television that the fire was so heavy that they could not carry out any rescue. “We have 22 ambulances, four bus ambulances and a helicopter at the site but unfortunately, all the 170 passengers aboard were killed after the crash.
