‘Attacked during Ramadan’: Iran’s supreme leader’s representative condemns assault on Iran

The representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India, Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, has strongly condemned recent attacks on Iran, alleging that civilians were targeted despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Speaking to the media, Ilahi said Iran had been engaged in negotiations aimed at reaching a diplomatic resolution with the United States of America and was hopeful of issuing a positive joint statement in the near future. “We were in negotiations and discussions to reach a diplomatic conclusion. We were thinking that very soon we would reach a very good statement by Iran and the United States of America,” he said.

However, he alleged that during the past month, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, Iran was attacked by Israel and the United States. “Unfortunately, during this last month of Ramadan, we were attacked. They claimed they attacked government targets and buildings, but that is not true. They attacked civilian people,” Ilahi alleged.

Strongly condemning what he described as aggression against Iran, the Iranian leader’s representative said such actions violate international norms and endanger regional peace. “We condemn this aggression against Iran, this attack against Iran,” he said.

Ilahi expressed hope that the United Nations and the international community would step in to uphold international law and bring an end to hostilities. “We hope that international law and the United Nations will act and stop this war against Iran,” he added.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in West Asia, with growing global concern over civilian safety, regional stability and the future of diplomatic engagement in the region.
