Russia: Bus with 20 passengers plummets into river, one dead

A bus carrying 20 passengers in Russia’s St. Petersburg veered off a bridge, plummeting directly into a river.

According to Russian media agencies, the police authorities apprehended the bus driver following the accident.  

An investigation is under way with authorities initiating a criminal angle.

Meanwhile, preliminary reports indicate that the accident claimed one life, while two individuals are currently in the midst of rescue efforts.

Emergency responders managed to extract eight people from the submerged bus.
