Breaking | Broadcast of CAB protests banned in Manipur

Guwahati, February 12, 2019:

The District Administration of East Imphal has issued orders to ban the broadcast of the ongoing protests against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 by the Civil Society Organizations under the banner of Manipur People against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 (MANPAC) and People Alliance Manipur.

On the other hand, the District Administration has also banned the use of internet services in the state for five days to make it harder for the protesting organizations from assembling and staging protests. Incidents of violence have also been reported in various areas of the state as protesters have been involved in scuffles with authorities.

It may be mentioned that section 144 CrPC has also been clamped in the scheduled areas of the district.
