A drug smuggler was apprehended on Friday at a hideout along Indo-Myanmar border at Manipur sector and recovered around 11 Kgs of illegal drugs worth Rs 8 crores in the international market.
The arrest and seizure were made by a combined team of Assam Rifles and police with the recovery of around 11 Kgs of Methamphetamine drugs (crystal meth, ice etc.).
The apprehended drug smuggler has been identified as Ch Jamkhomang Mate along with a bag at around 3 pm on Thursday.

On examination of the bag, 11 packets of Methamphetamine drugs were found neatly concealed inside packets of tea leaves.
Stating that it was one of the biggest seizures of Methamphetamine drugs along the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh, the Addl SP said, “The seizure showed a new trend among the international drug smugglers to which they have shifted from smuggling of contraband WY tablets and heroin powder to Methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth, ice etc through Moreh as a transit point to Indian markets.”
