Tuibong (Manipur), September 17, 2018:

The apex body of the Kuki tribe, the Kuki Inpi Churachandpur (KIC) in a press statement said that the Kuki Sahnit (Kuki Black Day) has been and will continue to be observed until justice is given to the victims of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) orchestrated Kuki Genocide 1992-1997.

The organisation in a press statement said, “It was the United Naga Council (UNC) and their mask-Naga Lim Guard (NLG), who as a puppet of the top Tangikhul leaders of NSCN-IM served Quit Notices to unwary Kuki  villages of Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati and Chandel districts of Manipur in Late 1992.”

The statement added, “The massacre of Zoupi villagers happened on 13 September 1993 despite the helpless villagers heeding the inhuman quit notice to vacate their village by September 15, 1993.”

They added that the KIC desires that as a preventive measure, the state authorities or the NIA should immediately arrest the UNC leaders including the ‘chief conspirators of the Joupi massacre and the Kuki Genocide as a whole, Th Muibah, RK Thekko and Francis Ngajokpa should be arrested and put to trial for their crimes against human and the crimes of murder.

The organisation also added that Kuki movement is for self determination, whether within Myanmar or India and it is ‘none of UNC’s business.

The statement also said, “UNC and its puppeteer should not interfere in Kuki affairs nor covet Kuki ancestral lands."

It may be mentioned that the United Naga Council (UNC), apex body of Nagas, on Sunday stated that the Black Day observation  by the Kukis "exposed the hollowness of the Kukis to the outside world."
