IMPHAL: In a joint operation carried out by the Phundrei Battalion of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police, the team recovered a total of 20 rounds of M79 grenades hidden in a jute bag. This comes after the horrific attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in which 7 people including a commanding officer, his wife and son died.
The joint force recovered the grenades after busting a warlike store in the Kakching district, close to the Indo-Myanmar border.
According to reports, the grenades were recovered on Saturday at around 6 pm.
The bomb squad disposed of the grenades on Sunday at around 8.05 am at Buffalo Farm Wabagai.
The attack on the Assam Rifles convoy took place around 10 am near S Sehken village in the Singngat subdivision.
