MANIPUR: AMSU SUBMITS MEMORANDUM TO CM N. BIREN SINGH OPPOSING CITIZENSHIP AMENDMENT BILL 2016

The NESO organised a sit in protest oposing against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 hosted by All Manipur Student’s Union, today who  submits a memorandum opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

The president of AMSU request the union government to look after their  problems as well as the people of the whole region.

He also stated in the memorandum that the illegal immigrants have systematically occupied the government lands, the forest lands, and tribal lands in every state of the region and the ethnic communities have suffered politically and socially. Moreover, the Manipur Accord has promised to evict the illegal immigrants from the areas and this bill is against the MoU signed between AMSU and Manipur Government in the year 1980 and 1994.

The proposed bill is another effort to encourage infiltration of the Hindus from Bangladesh into Manipur and different states of the NE region.

Further , he has requested the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to come forward and oppose the proposed bill and also to take necessary action for the welfare of all the indigenous people of Manipur.
