A special judge of National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday remanded Manipur Congress MLA, Yamthong Haokip, to judicial custody in a 9mm pistol missing case in Imphal.

Recently, the NIA had carried out a raid at Haokip's residence in Nongpok Inkhol in Imphal East district in connection with the missing of arms from the armoury of 2nd Manipur Rifles and recovered one of the missing 9mm pistols. The agency had also recovered nine 9mm pistols from the residence of the chief of insurgent group United Kuki Liberation Front, Soson Haokip.

Altogether 56 9mm pistols and 59 magazines were found missing between September 2016 and early 2017. Earlier, four police officers, including an IPS officer, were suspended in the case which was handed over to the NIA by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
