IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh has announced that the state government will award money to sportspersons who manage to win medals in Tokyo Olympics.
CM Singh has said that persons with a Gold medal will receive prize money of Rs 1.2 crore, a reward of Rs 1 crore for winning a silver, and Rs 76 lakhs for winning bronze medals in the ensuing Olympics.

As many as five sportspersons from Manipur will represent India in Tokyo Olympics this year scheduled from July 23 to August 8 in Japan. Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu – Hockey, Shanglakpam Nilakanta Sharma – Hockey, Sushila Likmabam – Judo, Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom – Boxing and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu – weight lifting.
The announcement came during the launching of 'Selfie Point' to cheer the Indian Olympic contingent in a solemn function held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
