Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh saw off the first batch of Hajj pilgrims at Imphal Airport on Tuesday. In all, 458 people including 223 women have been selected for Haj pilgrimage from the State under Manipur State Hajj Committee this year.
In the first batch, 192 pilgrims led by Manipur State Haj Committee (MSHC) Chairperson Moulana Abdus Salam and Khadim-ul-Hujjaj Mohammed Rashid Ali left for Kolkata in different flights for their onward journey to the holy city of Mecca. The second batch of pilgrims numbering 266 will leave for Kolkata tomorrow. All of them will stay at Madinat-ul-Hujjaj (Haj House), Kolkata before they leave for Mecca in two flights on July 26.

N Biren wished the pilgrims for a happy and safe journey. He also requested them to pray for peace, prosperity, harmony, and tranquillity in Manipur.
It may be mentioned that Moulana Abdus Salam has been selected as the Coordinator of Khadim cum Cleric by the Hajj Committee of India.
Manipur State Minority Commission Chairperson Md. Anwar Hussain, Director (Minority Affairs) Ng. Uttam, Imphal Airport Director S. Senthil Valavan and Members of Manipur State Haj Committee were also present at the occasion.
