A Manipur cop has been suspended for collecting money illegally from a commercial vehicle at the Konung Mamang checkpoint.

The Manipur cop was suspended by Imphal East district SP for his misconduct and misbehavior at the checkpoint after a video of the act went viral.

A video surfaced on the social media where the police constable, identified as M Jeepu Singh, is seen taking Rs 500 from a woman trader from the hill district. The woman was transporting charcoal on Tata Magic at the RDS crossing checkpoint.
Following this, the Imphal East SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam suspended the constable, who under the Assam Police Manual Rule no 66 part-III have committed ‘grave misconduct and misbehavior’ at the RDSC Crossing checkpoint at Konung Mamang

The SP further directed him not to leave the headquarter without obtaining prior permission from the SP during his suspension.
