Heavy downpour in the last few days has brought many parts of the state into a flood-like situation, where some areas are under highly vulnerable condition.
Due to the heavy downpour, Kangpokpi District is facing alarming flood situation, where many parts of the district are widely affected. The water of Imphal River passing through the district is running above the danger level at many places. Saikul, being the most vulnerable area, is under precarious condition. Some of the bridges have been blocked by the locales for safety of the public.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom has instructed all the SDOs of the district to liaise with the police, army, CBOs and village chiefs and make a quick assessment of the situation in their respective areas and place a report to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi at the earliest. Dr. Rangitabali also directed all the District Level Officers to remain alert in view of the present flood situation so as to prevent from any unwanted casualties and lose of lives and properties of the people of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the people of the district not to dampen their spirit but join hands and co-operate with the district administration to overcome and control the situation.
