The state of Manipur, home to a sizable Naga population, has been gripped by panic ahead of the 'final Naga solution' amid talks between the Centre and the largest Naga organization, the NSCN (IM).

Ahead of the Government-set deadline of October 31, the district administrations have beefed up security measures in the State to ensure that any untoward incident does not take place in Manipur.

The District Magistrate of Bisnupur, Neeta Arambam, has issued a directive to all DLOs to ensure that adequate staffs are stationed at their respective offices. Moreover, the DLOs have been instructed to ensure that files and official documents are kept in safe custody. Moreover, fire hoses have been kept at the ready to disperse unruly mobs in case such a situation arises.

Meanwhile, over in Ukhrul district, the DC Joseph Pauline Kamson, has warned that supply lines might be disrupted in the district due to "impending fall out of the impending Indo-Naga peace talks". Thus, the CEO and ADC of Ukhrul have been instructed to ensure that fair prices are maintained by the vendors of food grains, kerosene, etc. Moreover, all SDMs have been instructed to carry out inspections in their areas of responsibility.

Over in Manipur capital Imphal, the Medical SP of RIMS hospital has urged the staffs residing in the hospital quarters to rush to casualty whenever on call in case in anticipation of "unlikely events" following the Indo-Naga peace talks.

It may be mentioned that there are apprehensions in Manipur regarding the seven-decades old peace talks between the Naga organizations and the Central Govt.

Recently, women of the age-old all-women Ima Keithel market staged a demonstration outside the residence of Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah in the afternoon on Thursday over apprehensions regarding the ‘final Naga solution’.

A campaign has been spearheaded by Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) formed by major CSOs of the State (AMUCO, CCSK, HERICOUN, LIPUN and UCM) as a preemptive measure in view of the final solution of the 22 years long political dialogue between GoI and NSCN (IM).
