The Non-Teaching Employees’ Welfare Association (NTEWA) of at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal has called off its agitation from Saturday evening following assurance from the RIMS authority.
A release stated that the assurance was made in the presence of heads of departments, principals (Dental College and College of Nursing) and representative of RNAL and TAMOA, RIMS, Imphal in the meeting held on June 1 at the conference room of Jubillee Hall, RIMS.
“The association is thankful to the civil voluntary organisations of this State for their support in upbringing and fulfilment of its demands”, it added.
The agitation of the Non Teaching Employees Welfare Association (NTEWA) at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal gained momentum as more and more associations of the RIMS expressed their solidarities with the NTEWA.
After the support extended by the Nurses’ association, the Teachers’ and Medical Officers Association (TAMOA) also extended moral support to the agitation launched by NTEWA.
A statement issued by TAMOA said it would lend moral support to the cause of the non teaching staffs in their interest and the institution.
The members of the non teaching staffs’ association locked the gate of OPD, A Block, Dental Hospital and others except the casualty of RIMS at around 8.30 am on Saturday morning. Many patients who had come for treatment at RIMS had to return with utter disappointment after seeing the gate locked with placards stating – “Go Back Director Shanta”.
A police team however had broken the lock and opened it around 9 am but the number of patients was less today. Inside the OPD, as the non-teaching staffs went on strike doctors faced extreme difficulties in providing their services to the patients.
