IMPHAL: The Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) will begin probe into the kidnapping and murder of social worker Athuan Abonmai, an influential Zeliangrong tribal leader in the state.
Abonmai was allegedly kidnapped and murdered on September 22 night in Tamenglong district.
His body was found on September 22 night along the Tamenlong-Tamei road in Manipur.
According to reports, Abonmei’s wife visited MHRC office on October 12 and assured full cooperation to the inquiry.
The MHRC had decided to undertake the inquiry and said the finding would be given to the NIA through the Government.
