In a recent update, Former Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh, now the opposition leader of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly, speaks hard on various burning issues of the state. While Ibobi Singh also questions the government over its failure to solve it in time. The former minister further instructed the state government for having a two days discussion to the upcoming State Assembly session which was summoned by the Governor of Manipur on July 20.
Further, clarifying a confusing statement released by Union Ministry of External Affairs, which stated that State Government of Manipur has been involved in the entire exercise to the survey work of Indo- Myanmar international boundary of Manipur sector, the former Chief Minister screwed the MEA saying that they were invited in a meeting but proposed to put halt the border pillar installation works until the matter has been settled.
Adressing a press conference on Tuesday, at Congress Bhavan, Okram Ibobi Singh stated that the statement of MEA which states that there were no dispute in the boundary issue of India while Myanmar is misleading when the spokesperson stated that Manipur govt. was involved in the survey work conducted by authorities of the neighbouring country.
He said he pressured the MEA as there were too many pressure from all sectors about the territory of Manipur being intruded by the Myanmar authority. ( details of the border issue presented by the CLP leader is being published in page 4 of this newspaper)
Senior Congress MLAs and other leaders including Gaikhangam, Govindas Konthoujam, K. Ranjit, Khumukcham Joykishan, RK Anand, Dr. Ng Bijoy among others were present during the press conference held today.
Okram Ibobi further expressed dismay over the present impasse going on the the Manipur University which is affecting the academic affairs of all the students of the state.
“ What is the difficulty of removing the VC and replace by another efficient one if he creating so much problem in the Universities and colleges affiliated to it?, Ibobi asked.
He said that various vacant seats of faculties at both the Manipur University and the RIMS have been still left unfilled and why is the reason for that. If the state government is concerned about the welfare of the state academic atmosphere then there should be any negligence towards this field.
