The Okram Ibobi Singh-headed Congress Legislative Party (CLP) from Manipur on Friday wrote to the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to apprise him regarding the concerns of the Manipuri people in regards to the Naga Political Talks' outcome.
Congratulating the Prime Minister and extending cooperation to bring "peace and harmony" in the region, the Manipur Congress leaders stated that the peace and harmony of Manipur should also not be disturbed due to the outcome of the talks with Naga rebel groups.

Informing that the people of Manipur have been protesting continually due to apprehensions over the peace talks, the CLP urged the Central Government to think about the welfare of the people of Manipur before taking a final decision.
The Congress Legislative Party told the Prime Minister that not only the territorial boundary, but also the administration and financial power of Manipur should not be disturbed.

Moreover, the party also demanded the Government not to form an Autonomous Territorial Council in Manipur, adding that the "pan-Naga cultural body should not be constitution a statutory body."
Stating that the Centre had assured that it would consult 'stakeholders' in Manipur before taking a final call on the issue, the CLP also demanded that the party's representatives should be consulted before a final solution to the protracted Naga issue.
