Manipur: Section 144 CrPC imposed in parts of Imphal

The authorities in Manipur on Monday enforced prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in and around a radius of 500 metres from the Assembly hall in Imphal.

According to official sources, the order would cover the roads leading from Khongnang Ani Karak to Lamlong bridge and from Minuthong bridge to Khongnang Ani Karak and extended to Sangakpham.

The prohibitory orders were enforced as the police in Imphal East and Imphal West districts apprehended serious breach of peace, disturbance of public tranquillity and grave danger to human lives and properties.

The orders prohibit the assembly of more than five people and the movement of individuals with sticks, stones, firearms and other deadly weapons.
