IMPHAL: In a bid to ensure that reasonable rates are being charged by private hospitals for COVID treatment, Manipur government on Wednesday sets the upper limits for COVID treatment charges in the state.
According to the official statement, the upper limit for a general or isolation bed without oxygen support will be Rs 3,000 while one with oxygen support will be Rs 5,000.
The highest price for treatment at High Dependency Unit (HDU) has been set at Rs 7,000.
The upper limit for ICUs without ventilator has been set at Rs 8,000 and for the bar for ones with ventilator is at Rs 10,000.
In the official order it has been stated that high end medicines like Remdesivir can be charged separately at the rate of Rs 3,400 per dose.
PPE costs may be charged separately based on actual use and the cost should be allocated among patients based on rounds taken by the doctors/nurses, as stated in the order.
The state government further clarified that PMJAY and CMHT beneficiaries are covered for COVID-19 hospitalization expenses. Their bills will be processed as per PMJAY/CMHT norms and procedures.
