MANIPUR: STUDENTS TO CARRY THE PROTEST TO CM’S RESIDENCE

The protest over Vice Chancellor Prof Adya Prasad Pandey’s by the students of Manipur University has turned more worst when police has lathi charged to disperse the gathering. As per reports, several among the hundreds of students have been injured in the lathi charge taking part in the protest as informed by the MUTA President Prof I Tomba.

The students, teachers and staff members of the University have declared to go for a hunger strike from July 9 demanding removal of Vice Chancellor Prof Adya Prasad Pandey from his position in the ‘academic interest’ of the university. The decision was taken in a joint meeting of the Manipur University Teachers Association (MUTA), Manipur University Staff Association (MUSA) and Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) held at the MUTA seminar hall at Canchipur campus in presence of MUTA president Prof I Tomba, MUSA president S Jibankumar and MUSU president M Dayaman Singh as presidium members on Thursday
