IMPHAL: Miscreants hurled a bomb at the residence of range forest officer of the Chakpikarong range, Chandel division, located at Nongmeibung Seram Leikai, Imphal East on Monday morning. Police have said that the attack was carried out by members of a suspected valley-based underground organization.

Manipur Police received information at about 7.15 am that a bomb had exploded at the residence of Seram Sacheekumar, 59, range forest officer Chakpikarong range, Chandel division. A police team immediately rushed to the spot upon receiving the information.

Police reported that the attack was carried out by members of a suspected valley based underground organisation at about 4.17 am.

However, no one was injured in the bomb explosion. Some of Sacheekumar’s property including window pane and sanitary pipes were damaged by the blast.

Sacheekumar claimed that he received monetary demands as well as threat messages from the proscribed underground organisation KCP (Noyon).

He said the same underground organization might be responsible for the incident.

A case has been registered at Porompat police station under FIR number 225(12)2020 PRT PS U/S 307/427/506/34 IPC, 3Expl. Sub. Act and 20UA(P) Act for further investigation.
