Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday said the state government was ready for talks to find an amicable solution to the ongoing crisis in Manipur University.
Speaking to media, Singh requested the joint students’ bodies to withdraw the 48-hour bandh, called from Wednesday midnight. He urged people to advise and guide the students and other stakeholders to come forward for talks with the government.
“The present government is for the welfare of people and will save the sanctity of Manipur University,” Singh said and appealed to people to make a collective effort in restoring normalcy and peaceful academic environment in the varsity.
Strikes and bandhs affect not only the economy of the state and day to day activities of common people but also create a bad image of the state outside, he added.
The CM appealed to people not to support any unreasonable bandhs and general strikes called by some vested interests. He said adequate security measures would be taken during the bandh. He asked the government officials to attend duties.
