Indian star weightlifter Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu can finally breathe a sigh of relief as her provisional suspension for allegedly using banned substances has been lifted by the International weightlifting federation on Wednesday.
The star weightlifter had vehemently denied using any substances and there was a lot of controversy surrounding the sample that was tested positive.
It was not an easy time for the family as the lifter went through a lengthy legal battle to clear her name and her brother had also gone to Budapest in Hungary to appear before an International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) panel.
It is to be mentioned that Chanu is a two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist as she had won gold medals at the 2014 Glasgow and 2018 Gold Coast events in the women’s 48 kg and 53 kg weight categories, respectively.
