Imphal: Manipur's COVID-19 fight took a big hit today as 14 doctors of the premier JNIMS in Imphal tested positive for the dreaded contagion. After the detection of these fresh cases, the premier health facility has been shut down for 3 days.

Although this is an alarming development, the news of JNIMS doctors testing positive for the dreaded virus is nothing new. To date, as many as 107 doctors of the premier medical institute have tested positive for the virus.
In another significant development, Manipur on Wednesday reported 214 new COVID-19 taking the state’s tally to 16,276.
Among the new cases, 208 are from the general population and six are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.
The new cases were confirmed at 23 testing facilities in the state.
Among the 208 cases from the general population, 35 are from Imphal West, 55 from Imphal East, 20 from Thoubal, 3 from Ukhrul, 2 from Noney, 8 from Chandel, 3 from Kangpokpi, 34 from Tamenglong, 10 from Churachandpur, 4 from Tengnoupal, 6 from Senapati and 24 from Bishnupur.
