Boxing Champion MC Mary Kom will be representing India at the Tokyo Olympic Qualifiers, which will be held in China in February 2020.
She grabbed the position after defeating challenger Nikhat Zareen in the summit clash of the 51 kg category at the women’s boxing trials held in the IG Stadium, New Delhi.
The two had won their respective first-round bouts with Nikhat vanquishing national champion Jyoti Gulia and Mary Kom beating Ritu Grewal.

It may be mentioned here that Nikhat had earlier demanded a trial to decide between her and Mary Kom, as to who will travel to China for the Olympic qualifiers following the Boxing Federation of India's indecision over the selection policy.

Nikhat had also demanded that the trials be telecast live, which was rejected by the BFI rejected. The Olympic qualifiers will take place between February 3-14 in Wuhan, China.
