In a shocking incident, the cadres of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim-R (Reformation) brutally beat up and killed 37-year-old civilian identified as Hangkon Solthing, a native of Jongji Havi in Khimyung administrative circle of Changlang South on Monday.
The cadres assaulted the civilian with clubs (lathi) in Longlung Village, under Kantang Circle. The reason behind the killing was that the deceased was collecting money from the village for the NSCN-K (Khango Konyak) faction.

The deceased was reportedly rushed to CHC, Changlang at 10 pm, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The family has expressed grief over the incident and took back his body to perform last rites.
It is to be mentioned that on August 20, a major cross-firing took place between the two factions of the rebel group National Socialist Council of Nagaland- Isaak Muivah (NSCN-IM) and NSCN-R (Reformation) on Tuesday night at Thilixu village Block 1 in Nagaland.
According to official sources, some IM cadres too sustained some injuries.
