IMPHAL: People of the Shirui village and its adjoining areas in Ukhrul district witnessed snowfall again after over 4 years on Sunday (February 7).
The Shirui village and its surrounding areas in the district were seen covered in two inches’ deep snow.
The snowfall engulfed the entire village under a dense blanket of white snow for about 2 hours.
In 2018, light snowfall was recorded in the district. Since then, this is the first snowfall recorded in the district.

Achan, head of the Shirui village, said that the snowfall started after rain brought hail to the village.
The residents of the village captured the snowfall on their smartphones. Subsequently, a video showing people playing in the snow went viral on social media.
This winter, the average temperature at Ukhrul district is regularly 3-12 degrees Celsius to date, with light night snowfall and frozen water.
