Will Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh apologize to the people? Will any action be taken against Vice Chancellor in-charge Prof K Yugindro? These are the questions that have arised in the minds of the people of Manipur. Here another questions arises is why should CM N
Biren Singh apologize to the people? He is the answer to the why.
On October 3, Vice Chancellor in-charge Prof Yugindro wrote a letter to the Human Resource Development Ministry charging the agitating students are like “terrorists” and that his life is at risk. Prof Yugindro also demanded Y-category security for himself. Yugindro also filed an FIR with the police against the students.
The same night, police launched an crackdown in the Manipur University campus and arrested 66 students and 6 teachers.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh had then sided with Prof Yugindro and appealed to the people of the state not to support the students.
Prof Yugindro on October 9 apologized for his comment to the Governor. Yugindro tendered unconditional apology to the Governor for the “incorrect and inappropriate statements” made by him.
Now that Prof Yugindro has apologized for his comment, should not the chief minister too come forward with an apology?
Speaking to InsideNe, Manipur University Professor Amar Yumnam said “Chief Minister N Biren Singh should too apologise for misleading the people of Manipur. However, we don’t keep high expectations from him. He should make his stand clear. Either he should apologise or initiate action against Yugindro,”
