IMPHAL: In a major boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Congress MLAs from Manipur has joined BJP at party headquarters in New Delhi today.

Former Manipur Congress MLA Yamthong Haokip and Rajkumar Imo Singh joined the party in the presence of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and National spokesperson of the BJP Sambit Patra.

Rajkumar Imo Singh, also known as R.K.Imo Singh is a former member of the Indian National Congress.

Joining the party Rajkumar Imo Singh said, "We are very delighted to be a part of the party. Seeing all the works of the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the country in the last 6-7 years for the development, peace, and establishing stability, and other initiatives taken up by the party and the government of India has been very forthcoming."

He further said, " We want to work for this party for the government to ensure that the stability in Manipur under the leadership of the state Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and to ensure that we will come back to power again by a two-third majority in the next election."

He was elected as a member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Sagolband constituency in Imphal West District from the Indian National Congress in the 2012 & 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

He is the eldest son of Rajkumar Jaichandra Singh, the first Union Minister from Manipur in the erstwhile Ministry of Rajiv Gandhi.

While Yamthong Haokip is an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress.

Haokip was first elected as a member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from the Saikul constituency in Kangpokpi District from the Congress Party in 2012 and re-elected again with the same party ticket in 2017.
