31,530 students appear for CoSHEM Class XII exams across 117 centres in Manipur
The Higher Secondary (Class XII) Examination 2026 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur commenced on February 17 across Manipur, with 31,530 students appearing at 117 examination centres statewide.
According to CoSHEM Secretary Kh Ashikumar, the examination began on February 17 and will conclude on March 20. This year recorded a slight increase in both candidates and centres compared to 2025, when 31,352 students appeared at 112 centres across the Science, Arts and Commerce streams.
Of the total candidates this year, 23,146 are from the Science stream, 7,697 from Arts and 687 from Commerce. Among the 117 centres, 39 are located in hill districts and 78 in valley districts. The secretary also informed that 412 internally displaced students are appearing for the examination this year and extended his best wishes to all candidates.
CoSHEM Chairman Takhellambam Ojit Singh appealed to parents, civil society organisations and student bodies to cooperate in ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of the examinations. He urged the public to refrain from bandhs, blockades, strikes or gatherings near examination centres until the process concludes.
In separate statements, several political leaders, including Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh, conveyed their best wishes to students appearing for both Class X examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur and the Class XII examinations under CoSHEM.
The Chief Minister encouraged students to approach the examinations with confidence and composure. Referring to the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he advised students to be “exam warriors” rather than “exam worriers.” Emphasising that examinations are important milestones but not the sole determinant of success, he urged students to remain calm, compete with themselves, and avoid unnecessary stress.
He also called on parents and teachers to guide students without placing undue pressure on them during this crucial period.
Meanwhile, student bodies including the All Manipur Students’ Union and the Manipur Students’ Federation extended their best wishes to all candidates appearing for the examinations.
