Amur Falcons released in Manipur's Chiuluan after capture by forest team

Eleven Amur Falcons were released at Manipur's Chiuluan Village on November 8 after being captured by a team of Manipur's Tamenglong Forest Division and local volunteers on November 7. 
 

The falcons were captured under the guidance of Dr Suresh Kumar, Scientist F, WII, Dehradun from the Chiuluan roosting site. 
 

The research programme has been taken up under the aegis of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
 

Two Amur Falcons, named Chiuluan2 and Guangram, were tagged with satellite transmitters following the approval of Anurag Bajpai, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden of Manipur.
 

Chiuluan2 and Guangram are the names of two significant roosting villages for Amur falcons in Tamenglong District, Manipur.
 

The tagged Amur Falcons were released by the Divisional Forest Officer Tamenglong, Kh. Hitler Singh in the presence of Dr. Suresh Kumar, Joel Gangmei RFO Tamenglong, Chairman, Village Authority members of Chiuluan Village, Rainforest Club Tamenglong members and staff of Tamenglong Forest Division.
 

The Office of the District Information Office, Tamenglong informed, "Besides the two satellite transmitters tagged Amur falcon, two Amur falcon named as Riangsuanei and Laisana  ringed with pfa.manipur@gmail.com were also released. Remaining seven were also released. All the Amur Falcon were also ringed with BNHS ring from C58352 to C58362."
